Satisfy your sweet-tooth while filling your belly. These roles are best served with a good helping of butter and honey. They make a perfect companion to any meal, or spread a glaze over them and eat them as a delicious after-meal snack.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams bread flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 40 grams sugar
  • 25 grams honey
  • 50 grams butter (melted)
  • 12 grams salt
  • 25 grams powdered milk
  • 250 milliliters milk (fresh)
  • 25 grams dry active yeast

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Celsius and place a pan of water on the bottom.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, egg, sugar, honey, melted butter, salt, and powdered milk. Slowly, add the fresh milk.
  3. Knead about 15 minutes but a few minutes before finishing, add the active yeast. The dough should end up firm and smooth.
  4. Make 80 gram balls and let sit under a moist towel 30 minutes in a warm place.
  5. After the 30 minutes, form the balls into ovals, and let rest another 90 minutes in a warm place until doubled in volume.
  6. Baste the rolls with beaten egg.
  7. Once the oven fully heated, lower the heat to 230 C, and bake the rolls 12 minutes until puffed and brown.

I decided to make this recipe to try to introduce new foods to our family meals and it was an instant success. They were super flakey and were amazing when you ate them with butter while they were still warm. Couldn't ask for a better 5 star recipe that I can keep on making.
