These little bites are a delicious little dessert that is super easy to make. Buttery, flaky puff pastry is the base which is topped with sweet mango. A simple folding technique makes these pastries stunning to look at, while a sprinkling of crushed pistachios adds a nice color contrast to the orange mango. You can enjoy these as a dessert, or serve them at a cocktail party as a sweet appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 4 puff pastry (individual, squares, cut out the squares from an already spread out puff pastry rolls, 15 cm. on each side)
  • 1 mango (ripe)
  • brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon crushed pistachios (unsalted)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Peel and cut the mango into cubes.
  3. Place the pastry squares on a baking pan. Sprinkle lightly with sugar.
  4. Place the mango cubes in the center of each square.
  5. Bring the tips of the square towards the center to cover the mango (leaving a space so that fruit is still visible). Glaze the pastry squares with the egg yolk diluted with 1 tablespoon of water.
  6. Sprinkle again with brown sugar and then pistachio.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
