Macaroons are sweet treats that are guaranteed to please the palate. They take 80 minutes to prepare, but the sweet and moist treasures will have you asking for them for every occasion. Plus, there are a mere 70 calories per tender morsel. The recipe calls for confectioner’s sugar, ground almonds, white sugar, egg whites, and food coloring of your choice. These macaroons will create a sweet sensation that will have you coming back for more.

Ingredients

  • 113 grams confectioners sugar
  • 1 cup almonds (ground)
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 3 egg whites
  • food coloring

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 Celsius.
  2. Combine the confectioners sugar and the almonds.
  3. Beat the egg whites until they begin to form peaks. Add the food coloring and beat until stiff peaks are formed.
  4. Sift a third of the sugar and almond mixture onto the egg whites. Fold in carefully. Repeat twice until all the sugar mixture is used.
  5. Place the batter into a pastry bag and form macaroons 2 or 3 centimeters in size on parchment paper or a silicon baking tray. Set on the counter for 30-60 minutes.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes until dry and easily removed from paper.
