Canned sweetened condensed milk, sold in every supermarket's baking aisle, is a secret shortcut of many experienced (and busy) home bakers, who can rely on its thick and concentrated texture and taste every time -- and not just when making key lime pie. Here, the milk is combined with Greek yogurt (for subtle tang) and softened gelatin to make mousse. Fresh lime juice and ground cinnamon add tartness and spice.


  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 4 greek yogurts (sweetened)
  • 2 gelatin sheets
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 limes


  1. Pour the condensed milk in a bowl and whisk until creamy. Place the gelatin in a bowl and cover with water. Let soak for 2-3 minutes. Drain and place gelatin in the microwave for a few seconds. Stir with a fork to completely dissolve. Add gelatin to the condensed milk, pressing through a fine mesh sieve. Whisk together quickly. Pour into a serving bowl and place in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Add the Greek yogurts, cinnamon and lime juice to the mousse and stir until creamy and smooth.
  2. Place mousse in the refrigerator to chill until served.
