Ingredients

  • 2 tomatoes (vine ripe, whole)
  • 1 onions (large, quartered)
  • 2 jalapeno chilies (with seeds - whole)
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 4 bell pepper (– any color - halved)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • bread (European style)
  • sliced ham (Deli)
  • salami (slices)
  • 2 tomatoes (– Vine-ripe, sliced)
  • cheese
  • gruyere cheese
  • cheese
  • gruyere cheese
  • chutney (Roasted pepper)
  • butter (for the bread)

Directions

  1. 1Preheat Oven 350 degrees:
  2. 2Place the tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and jalapeños on a baking sheet.
  3. 3Bake 20 -25 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.
  4. 4Remove the stem from the jalapeños and quarter the tomatoes.
  5. 5Place the jalapeños, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, basil, seasonings, balsamic vinegar and honey in a food processor and give a few good chops; until the desired consistency is reached.
  6. 6For the Italian Style Panini:
  7. 7Place salami slices on each slice of bread followed by the chutney, then the tomato, then the cheese, the ham, cheese and finally; put the sandwich together.
  8. 8Butter each side of the bread.
  9. 9Place in the panini maker and grill to desired crispness and color.
