What goes better with warm scones than homemade honey butter? Answer: nothing. This recipe for homemade scones features the tantalizing flavors of poppy seed and cinnamon. While the scones are baking, combine the honey with the butter and mix until you have a smooth creamy honey butter. Spread on the scones while still warm for a melty, delicious treat. Serve with a cup of tea for a tea time that your friends and family will never forget.

Ingredients

  • 100 grams unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 200 grams flour
  • 40 grams butter
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 40 grams sugar
  • 130 milliliters milk
  • salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 egg (beaten for brushing)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients, except the egg.
  3. Beat to obtain a very creamy mixture.
  4. Make small balls, and place them spaced apart on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, or a silicone mat. Flatten the balls with the palm of your hand.
  5. Brush them with the egg, and bake 25 to 30 minutes.
