Description

Toasted, ground hazelnuts and dark chocolate are incorporated into this moist cake batter, setting the tone for a simple but inviting finale. Because hazelnuts are high in protein and dietary fiber, as well as a number of nutrients, it's a dessert you can feel good about eating, too. Serve slices with a sprinkle of chopped hazelnuts and powdered sugar for picture-perfect results.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams hazelnuts (toasted)
  • 150 grams butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 100 grams dark chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 40 grams flour

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 160C.
  2. Grind the hazelnuts finely.
  3. Beat the eggs with the sugar, add the chocolate melted with the butter, hazelnuts, flour, cocoa, and vanilla extract.
  4. Place the batter in a buttered and floured cake pan and bake for approximately 35 minutes.
  5. Remove the cake from the oven and sprinkle with coarsely chopped, toasted hazelnuts and powdered sugar.
