  • 400 grams ground beef

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal

  • 1 egg
  • cooking spray
  • 10 slices whole wheat bread
  • mayonnaise

Directions

  1. Mix the beef, onion, jalapeno, oatmeal, lemon and pepper seasoning, Worcestershire sauce and egg together in a bowl. Form into patties and place in a skillet spritzed with cooking spray.
  2. Spread half the slices of bread with mayonnaise and top with lettuce. Place a burger on top of the lettuce and then layer with the slice of cheese and tomato. Top with the other slices of bread.

I made these at my last barbeque and they certainly impressed the guests. They are a bit on the spicy side because of the jalapenos, but if your guests love spicy this is for you. I also put 1 tsp. of soy sauce in mine too and it gives them a little kick. Make sure to have a hot pepper jack cheese to go with these, as it just adds to the wonderful flavor combinations.
