Ham and Fig Nests

Simple, elegant, and full of savory flavor, these Ham and Fig nests are the perfect addition to a breakfast, brunch, or luncheon. Individually sized, these Ham and Fig Nests feature a crispy grated potato crust. Filled with mozzarella cheese and pancetta or ham, the nests are baked in their individual ramekins until melty and crisp. A slice of fig is added to each individual nest for a sweet and elegant finish to these savory Ham and Fig Nests.
Ingredients
- 1 potatoes (medium)
- salt
- 3 slices mozzarella cheese
- 3 slices ham (Iberian, or pancetta)
- 1 figs (sliced)
Directions
- 1Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius.
- 2Peel the potatoes and grate them. Either slowly saute them or microwave them until soft.
- 3Lightly grease the oven-proof ramekins and add the potatoes. With the back of a spoon, press the potatoes all around the bottom and edges, smoothing them out. Salt to taste.
- 4Bake the ramekins for 40 minutes.
- 5Remove the ramekins from the oven and add the cheese and ham. Add back into the oven just until the cheese gets melted.
- 6Remove from the oven again and add the sliced fig on top.
