Ingredients

  • 2 whole pita breads (grain)
  • 1/2 cup beans (mashed)
  • steak (250 grs.)
  • salt and ground black pepper
  • onions
  • chiles
  • vegetables
  • carrots
  • mushrooms
  • lettuce
  • 2 tablespoons cotija cheese (may substitute cheddar, crumbled)
  • prepared salsa

Directions

  1. Salt and pepper the steak and cook in a skillet until cooked but soft. Set aside. Cut into small cubes.
  2. Heat the pita bread in a pan and slice open. Fill with the beans, lettuce, beef, and marinated vegetables. Sprinkle with cheese.
  3. Serve with salsa on the side.

I make these all the time with tofu because it takes on the flavor of any seasoning you add to it. I can't wait to make them again!
