Description

These crisp little savory pockets make a great appetizer. They require only 6 ingredients to make and come together in about 35 minutes. Delicate phyllo dough is wrapped around a filling made from ham, gorgonzola cheese, and sauteed leeks for a flavorful bite every time. If you want to serve these as a meal, simply pair them with a lightly dressed green salad. For an extra bit of flavor, made a quick balsamic vinegar reduction and drizzle it over the baked pastries.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 leeks
  • 4 slices virginia ham
  • 4 sheets phyllo pastry
  • 150 grams gorgonzola
  • 1 eggs

Directions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  2. 2Add the oil to a skillet in medium heat. Add the leeks and saute for a few minutes.
  3. 3Add the chopped ham and cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside.
  4. 4Cut the phyllo sheet in a rectangle. On the short end, place a piece of cheese and the leek/ham mixture on top.
  5. 5Start forming the triangles by folding the phyllo. Take one corner of the short end and bring it up to meet the long end. Repeat starting from the opposite corner until the entire rectangle is used.
  6. 6Seal the edges with the beaten egg.
  7. 7Place the triangles onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes or until browned.
