Substituted salsa lizano with worcestershire sauce & cumin as recipe suggested. Eat with fried egg for best flavour.

Just like fresh in Costa Rica! Best gallo pinto recipe I've found, and I've tried lots. You can order Lizano salsa on Amazon. It's worth it. This dish is also traditionally served with eggs scrambled or over easy and with sour cream. As a personal preference,next time I make it (probably every weekend from now on!), I'm going to use more beans and less rice.

Perfect - I was worried because I didn’t have salsa lizana but I substituted Worcestershire and cumin. I added paprika to mine. The whole family loved it!

Good. I didn’t have salsa so added a bunch of spices and it was still good (ie cumin paprika onion powder) would recommend. Made rice night of and it didn’t matter

It was really tasty - was concerned to add that much Worcestershire sauce at first but it really made the dish! I also added dried cumin, smoked paprika and a little cayenne pepper. Served with a fried egg and avocado.

Made this for a vegetarian friend that came over tonight and he really enjoyed it. My wife and I enjoyed it as well. You don't miss the meat in this recipe. I have a texture issue with beans, but the rice to bean ratio was perfect and there were no issues.
