- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (toasted)
- 1/2 cup pistachios (chopped)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature, I used Irish butter)
- 1 cup dark brown sugar (packed)
- 1 large egg (at room temperature)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup maraschino (finely chopped, and green cherries)
- 1/4 cup candied pineapple (finely chopped)
- 1/2 cup sugar (confectioners’)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. cognac (or brandy as in original recipe)
- 2 tsp. milk
