Sweet and savory fritters coated in cinnamon and sugar, filled with a creamy cheese filling, and fried to perfection. Made with no butter and fried in olive oil, these fritters are a great alternative to donuts and make a great appetizer or after dinner treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon brandy
  • 400 grams quark cheese
  • 10 tablespoons flour
  • olive oil (to taste for frying)
  • sugar
  • cinnamon

Directions

  1. Beat the eggs with the sugar, vanilla, and brandy.
  2. Add the quark cheese, beat well until smooth.
  3. Finally add a tablespoon of flour at a time until dough is soft but moldable.
  4. Heat up the oil.
  5. When hot, add small spoonfuls of dough shaped between two spoons. Let fry, turning occasionally for with a uniform color.
  6. Remove, and place on absorbent paper. While still hot, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Repeat the process until all the dough has been used.

Sweet and savory dough bites. The fried sweetness and sugar outside works so well with the quark cheese on the inside. Eat as an appetizer or dessert. It can really go both ways.
