Full of fresh fruity flavor, this Fig and Green Melon drink is the perfect refreshing beverage to sip on during a particularly warm summer day. Made with sweet green melon and figs, this smoothie has a beautifully delicate flavor. Fresh basil adds another flavor element. Made with no milk or dairy products, this smoothie is completely vegan friendly. Add a sweetener of your choice, but be sure not to overpower the subtle sweetness of the melon.

Ingredients

  • 1 serving
  • 250 grams melon (green)
  • 100 grams figs (skinless)
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 3 fresh basil leaves
  • 150 milliliters water (fresh)

Directions

  1. In a blender or food processor place the melon, figs, ice cubes. Pulse 5 times on high speed, add the basil leaves, and water and blend until obtaining a silky liquid.
  2. If using less ripe figs, add a thread of honey.

I added the honey in with this drink, but just a touch so I did not lose the delicate essence of the melon. I have also tried this omitting the basil and it works well either way.
