Fresh figs enjoy a brief season, so it's always a shame when even one delicious fruit goes to waste. Here's what you can do with an excess, especially those that might be too soft to eat out of hand (or to slice into salads and such). Because figs are on the sweeter side, they match up nicely with tart lime juice (lemon juice could be used instead, if desired), and without the need for any sugar, though a dash of honey wouldn't be out of the question.
- 5 figs
- ice (or water, to taste)
- 1/2 lime (juice)
- Peel the figs and put them in the blender with the lime juice and the water, grind well and serve.
- As figs are already sweet, there is no need to add sugar.
