Description
Healthy, dairy-free oat milk is a cinch to make at home using a few pantry ingredients and a blender. This extra-creamy version not only tastes better than anything purchased in a carton, it's much less expensive. The recipe is a Yummly original created by Sara Mellas.
Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 qt. cold water
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 Tbsp. maple syrup (for blending)
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 Tbsp. maple syrup (optional, for taste)

Directions
- Place the oats in a large bowl and add enough cold water to cover. Let soak at room temperature for 10 minutes.
- Drain the oats through a fine-mesh strainer and rinse thoroughly with cold water.
- Put the oats in a blender. Add the cold water, vanilla, maple syrup, and salt.

My first batch was mucousy because I did not have any cheesecloth. I am not a fan of vanilla flavoring or sweetness in my coffee creamer so my second batch ( with cheesecloth) I eliminated vanilla and maple syrup. It is chilling now. I meant to add cinnamon 😦. Will add to Batch 3 in a week!!

This is a bad recipe and will result in slimy oat milk. Pre soaking and long blending are not required.

I had to discard it cause it was slimy. I made a new batch and did not soak the oats. Blend with all ingredients and drain twice with cloth or tshirt.
