Dreaming of a vacation? Bring the Mediterranean to you with these lemon, dill and feta-infused Greek turkey burgers.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 90% lean ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup purple onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2/3 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 5 whole wheat english muffins
  • 1 1/2 tomatoes
  • 1 butter lettuce

Directions

  1. Finely chop the red onion, crush the garlic, and juice the lemon.
  2. Line a baking tray or large plate with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. Combine the turkey, red onion, garlic, dried oregano, dried dill, feta and lemon juice in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Mix with your hands until well combined.
  5. Shape the turkey into 5 burger patties, and lay flat on the lined baking tray to stop them from sticking together.
  6. In a medium-large non-stick pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  7. Add the turkey patties to the pan when the olive oil begins to bubble.
  8. Cook the turkey patties until they reach an internal temperature of 165F and/or the juices run clear. Flip occasionally for even color on both sides.
  9. Toast the English muffins, and slice the tomatoes.
  10. Layer the butter lettuce, turkey patties, tomato slices, and tzatziki on the English muffins, and dig in!

Turned out well. The turkey was well seasoned but the flavor of the meat was missing. The spices were well balanced but the turkey was such a mild flavor the flavor of the meat got lost. Would definitely make again, maybe add salt.
