Well, I made the dish exactly according to the directions, and actually used a better cut of meat (butcher cut shank)versus the short rib which can be pretty tough, even after simmering for hours. The end result was a little disappointing as the sauce was far too watery and the dish lacked much flavour. I added thickener (flour) and a copious amount of worchester sauce, plus a couple teaspoons of Hy's seasoning salt and lots of ground black pepper. This helped make the dish more of a stew/gravy . Still, in spite of everything, the dish seemed to lack the intense flavour I was looking for . Making a world class dish is not simple. I served the stew over mashed potatoes .
I gave the recipe 3 out of 5 , sorry.
