Following the low-carb, protein-based Dukan diet, these chewy breadsticks feature a tofu-based dough that's seasoned with rosemary and salt. The recipe calls for splitting the dough in half to further flavor some with pizza spices and the other with bacon seasonings, though this is optional. They're transferred to the oven on parchment-lined baking sheets and cooked until crunchy and golden. Serve them with peppered olive oil for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 eggs
  • 125 grams tofu
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • salt
  • fresh rosemary
  • flavoring
  • flavoring

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Blend the egg with tofu, yeast, a pinch of salt and rosemary. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into two parts. Add the pizza flavoring to one of the doughs and bacon flavoring to the other.
  4. Place the dough in rectangular baking pans, lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until the dough is firm.
  6. Remove the pans from the oven and cut into breadsticks approximately 1 centimeter wide.
  7. Return to the oven with the broil function for approximately 10 minutes until the breadsticks are golden and crunchy.

I have always wanted to make my own tofu breadsticks and am so happy that I found this recipe. This breadsticks had an incredible taste to them; it did not have the typical flavorless appeal that most tofu dishes have. The breadsticks turned out perfect, not too chewy and not hard at all. I would rate this recipe at 4 stars and definitely plan to make them again.
