Description

This date and walnut cake is packed with warm flavors that are perfect for the wintertime. Featuring chopped walnuts and dates, this cake is then covered in powdered sugar for a light and sweet finish.

Ingredients

200 grams walnuts (broken into small pieces)
1 cup dates (cut into small pieces)
120 grams margarine
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon warm water
2 large eggs
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
powdered sugar (to taste)

Directions

1Preheat oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
2Prepare the nuts and dates.
3Set aside.
4In a bowl, beat the margarine, softened in the microwave, with sugar.
5Add water and eggs, and beat until creamy.
6Add the flour and the baking powder, and beat some more.
7Mix in the walnuts and dates, distribute evenly in the dough, which will be heavy.
8It is a heavy dough.
9Grease a baking tray with margarine, and sprinkle with flour.
10Pour dough in the baking tray.
11Bake for about 30 minutes.
12Check the cooking with a toothpick, taking care not to let it get too dry.
13Remove from oven, and cut into small squares or rectangles.
14While the cake still warm, coat each piece with powdered sugar.
