Simple ingredients such as butter, sugar, flour, and chocolate straight out of the double-boiler unite to create the traditional chocolate cake you loved when you were a kid. Serve this cake with fresh raspberries and chocolate sauce for a special twist.

Ingredients

  • 400 grams dark chocolate (chopped)
  • 150 grams unsalted butter
  • 150 grams powdered sugar
  • 5 eggs (separated)
  • 100 grams flour (sifted)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
  3. Add the butter and sugar, mix, and remove from heat.
  4. Beat the egg whites.
  5. Add the warm chocolate to the butter mixture and mix. Add the egg yolks, stirring constantly, so the eggs don't cook.
  6. Slowly, add the flour, and then mix in the beaten egg whites lightly.
  7. Pour batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
  8. Bake for about 15 minutes.
  9. Garnish with powdered sugar, or make a light chocolate syrup, and ice the cake.
