Description

The rich flavors of dark chocolate and hazelnut, mixed with sweet candies make this a fantastic treat for the holidays, or any other very important occasion. You’ll need to keep an eye on them as you make them so that you don’t burn the sugar! When cooled, they become hard. Store in the fridge to keep them from becoming too soft. Sprinkle with powdered sugar to create a unique effect against the dark cocoa.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams sugar
  • 100 grams hazelnuts
  • 100 grams dark chocolate
  • 200 grams nougat (or peanut brittle)
  • cocoa powder

Directions

  1. Heat the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns into a light caramel.
  2. Add the nuts and stir quickly with a wooden spoon.
  3. Spread caramelized hazelnuts on a parchment paper and let cool.
  4. When cool, cover with a second sheet of parchment paper and press a little using a rolling pin.
  5. In another saucepan over low heat, melt dark chocolate and "nougat". Stir until smooth.
  6. Once they're melted, add the hazelnut brittle in small pieces.
  7. Pour this mixture onto a parchment paper, spread it to form a layer of about 1.5 cm.
  8. Let it harden for about 2 hours.
  9. Cut more or less regular pieces with a knife and roll them in the cocoa powder.
  10. Keep them in the fridge and take them out about 5 minutes before serving.
