My boyfriend loves black beans and for the past two years I’ve been trying different recipes to try to get them perfect for him, and my wait is finally over!!! The is absolutely delicious, I wouldn’t change a thing! And most of the stuff grows in my garden!

I subbed green for red peppers, upped the garlic and replaced cilantro with parsley. I added some corn starch to thicken sauce as I used dried beans that had been soaked overnight.

Great! Would make it again

Very bland. I see in other reviews that you have to add ingredients to make it taste better...I want a recipe where I don’t need to add anything additional.

I think this is one that is best the second time round because the water content can really be variable! Furthermore you learn what’s missing etc. I had to add quite a bit of reduced sodium soy sauce to bring out the flavours because the water in the brine of the black beans plus the tomato polpa really diluted the flavours. I think add just tomato purée (eg. intense tomato) and fresh tomato and forego the sauce/polpa. I also added some red kidney beans with the black ones the second time and the flavour was great. I will try it with some mild pasta sauce maybe? That said, it is rather healthy and easy to make- if added to some rice with some guacamole and hot sauce, it’s a very easy feel-good dinner!

Was one of the best pork dishes Ive found. Just fell apart when you touched it and the flavor was amazing. Served this with some Cuban style black beans.

Doesn’t taste of much. Filling enough and by no means bad, just needs... more.

My husband and I loved this dish very much (with rice). I doubled the recipe because my hubby loves beans. Next time I will put less water because it was a bit too watery. After it had simmered for a bit I poured it into a crockpot to let it cook some more. Awesome dish❤️

This was delicious! I didn’t use the food processor, I finely diced the veggies and used a combo of apple cider vinegar and red wine vinegar. Next time I will probably add some red chili flakes to add some heat!

This may have been just the way I made it, but I found that the onions were a bit overpowering and I didn’t end up needing the water. I also thought it could salt- which I added a lot of of course. But when I mixed it with the rice it turned out fantastic.
