Outstanding flavor! We seared the meat then cooked an 8 lb piece of pork on low in the crock pot for 14 hrs. I will say we like ours CRISPY crispy, so we didn’t sprinkle any of the liquid on the meat before putting in the oven to broil.
*Because we cooked so much, it took us a few days to get through. I initially only broiled the meat halfway to my preference, that way when it was time to reheat, I could broil again and serve without it becoming dry. Will do this next time I make as well.*

Made this recipe so many times! I like to put the spice rub on the shoulder the night before to let the flavor penetrate the meat. Instead of adding just juice, I slice two limes and two oranges in half, squeeze the juice out, and then put the squeezed halves of citrus in the crock pot too, like in traditional carnitas. Once you get them crispy under the broiler....!!!! Just like the carnitas from the taqueria down the street from my house

Absolutely solid recipe and one of the reasons I love this app. Make this often and always comes out amazing.

This is our favorite carnitas recipe hands down! It’s full of flavor and we use it frequently for our taco Tuesday’s. Highly recommend!

Flavor was great! I was out of chili powder, so I used instead 1/2 teaspoons of paprika, cayenne and Sri Racha sauce. It had a little heat and I loved that! I also didn’t have OJ and used Herdez green salsa and a small can of diced green chili’s, and used water instead of chicken broth. Would definitely make again.

Super easy. Modified spices a bit to my liking. Even easier in an instapot. Highly recommended!

Amazing. I made a pork one exactly like recipe and a jackfruit vegan option. Both equally delicious. This is my daughter’s favorite thing in the world to eat.

This recipe is definitely a keeper. I added some canned chipotle pepper and sauce. This added a small kick in spice. It wasn’t hot just a nice spicy level.

Turned out pretty good. I added Mojo sauce too. It was a little bland so after slow cooking, I added additional seasoning.

I have made this several times and it turns out great every time! It is my go to carnita recipe.

delicious and feeds a ton, i only used half the recommended lime juice and made Pico de Gallo to go with them in tacos

Turned out great... highly recommend the broiler step to get the ends nice and crispy. May have poured too much sauce on before the broiler step because it took 15 minutes to crisp up in our oven. Husband agreed with other reviews that the cinnamon was strong but I couldn’t taste it. Made it so I could have lunch leftovers to bring to work ... making burrito bowls for leftovers. We had it for dinner in soft shell tacos. Could see this going well over salad as well!

Holy moly! This was by far the best carnitas I’ve ever had. I added more cumin because we love cumin. I also added all of the ingredients into the crock pot insert the night before so all I had to do in the morning was open the fridge, pull it out, and place it in the heating unit on low. When I got home it was boiling, so I opened the lid and pulled the meat. It was so tender, I didn’t need to pull the meat out of the crockpot! Then I left the lid off and let it boil for another hour before pulling the meat out and placing it under the broiler on low for about 6 minutes. My husband said this was a keeper and we will be enjoying this at least twice a month.

I’ve made this twice and have been so pleased with the taste. 2nd time made for company and got rave reviews on tenderness. I did not do the carnitas broiler step the 2nd time around. It is delicious both ways. The carnitas was nice for a crisper chewier element to rice bowls.

Yum, the whole family liked it. Putting it in the broiler on high for 10 minutes really was the finishing touch.

This does have great flavour. I added a small chilli cause I like the heat.
Served with Mexican slaw with cilantro lime dressing and sriracha
Yummy

The pork was super tender and just fell apart. The seasoning was perfect. I will definitely make again.

Great pork carnitas recipe. Simple to make, and taste terrific. Wouldn’t change anything.
