Imagine your favorite snickerdoodle with a wonderful cakey texture. These cake squares will fulfill your deepest craving. Loaded with cinnamon and sugar and flavored with a hint of orange, one square will not be enough. Try dipping the squares into butter before rolling in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to increase coverage.

Ingredients

  • 400 grams flour
  • 150 grams margarine
  • 250 grams sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 deciliter water (may be replaced with milk)
  • 1 orange
  • sugar (for sprinkling)
  • cinnamon (for sprinkling)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Grease a pan with a little margarine and sprinkle flour on top. Set aside.
  3. Put all ingredients (except sugar and cinnamon) in a bowl and beat in an electric mixer or food processor. Place in the tray and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and cut into pieces.
  4. Mix the cinnamon and sugar in a cup. Place each piece of cake, while still warm, in this mixture and cover completely with the cinnamon and sugar. Serve immediately.

This cake is very good. The orange really adds a nice flavor. I dipped the pieces of cake in melted butter before placing in the cinnamon and sugar. This would be great for a brunch or mid-morning snack. I will make this again.
