  • 600 grams chuck steak (Beef, cut into large bite-size cubes)
  • salt
  • ground black pepper
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 stalks celery (chopped into 2cm pieces)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 can diced tomatoes (Coles Italian, drained)
  • 1 1/4 cups dry red wine (optional - substitute same quantity of stock)
  • 750 mL beef stock (or Chicken Stock,, 3 Massel cubes)
  • 1 carrot (peeled and cut into 2cm pieces)
  • 700 grams sweet potatoes (approx 2 peeled)
  • 3 Tbsp. butter (room temperature)
  • 1/4 bunch fresh flat leaf parsley (coarsely chopped)
