It takes 35 minutes and only has 220 calories per serving, so you can indulge without regret. This decadent dessert can be made into single servings or a large dish. Ingredients

  • 600 milliliters skimmed milk
  • 300 milliliters coconut milk
  • 1 strip orange peel
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 400 grams cooked rice (leftover, even soggy)
  • 200 milliliters cream
  • 200 grams sugar
  • ground cinnamon (for sprinkling)

Directions

  1. In a large pot, heat the milk, coconut milk, orange peel, cinnamon stick, and star anise to boiling.
  2. Add cooked rice, and mix well to separate the grains. Add the cream and sugar. Stop stirring, and let boil until thickened.
  3. Divide into bowls, or on a platter.
  4. Allow to cool, and sprinkle with cinnamon.

This is a good way to use leftover rice. In fact, I make more than needed to have leftovers just for this recipe. My grandchildren love it. It’s nice to serve them a simple dessert I loved as a child!
