Yes this is the recipe my mother taught me 50 yrs ago and you cant go wrong with it. If you want to vary from this recipe its ok to make some substitutions and additions. I have found adding a 1/4 Tsp of Nutmeg to the recipe really adds flavor to the pie. I have also added a tablespoon of dark chocolate liqueur to add a hint of chocolate flavor. You can replace the Karo syrup with maple syrup, or half Karo and half pecan flavored pancake syrup. If you are someone who loves honey you can use it instead of Karo but the flavor of honey cooks off when heated. Even if you stay with the basic recipe you will still get a tasty pie every time.

Great app and I'm a chef...what more could I ask for? The dish was wonderful and simple to make...and I would definitely make it again...
