Handy to have on hand as well as making a fun and unique gift, this homemade Citrus Salt is a must try. This recipe provide instructions for making lemon salt as well as orange salt. Full of citrusy flavor, this salt can be used to season your favorite dishes or as a rub for meat. Be sure to use coarse sea salt for the best results. This citrus salt should be stored in an airtight container and will keep for up to two months.


  • 2 lemons (large)
  • 2 oranges (large)
  • 20 tablespoons coarse sea salt


  1. Scrape the zest of the lemons and oranges, and place in separate bowls.
  2. Add 10 tablespoons of salt to each bowl, and stir well.
  3. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 months.

I never used a recipe like this before and am I will continue to use it from here on out. I love the citrus flavors that resonate throughout the salt. Adds a change up to regularly salted items.
