Description

Life is short, so eat more chocolate. Or at least that is the theory that inspired this indulgent recipe for Chocolate Coulant. Known in the vernacular as molten lava cake, this rich chocolatey dessert is what the expert bakers refer to as a self-saucing pudding. At the center of this dense, moist chocolate cake is a molten chocolate center that melts into each bite. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with vanilla ice cream and berries.

Ingredients

  • 2 servings
  • 50 grams dark chocolate (or milk chocolate)
  • 50 grams unsalted butter
  • 1 whole eggs
  • 1 egg yolks
  • 60 grams dark brown sugar
  • 60 grams plain flour

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
  2. Melt chocolate and butter in a small saucepan, and stir until well mixed.
  3. In a bowl, mix the egg, egg yolk, and sugar well.
  4. Add the still warm chocolate while stirring.
  5. Mix in the flour.
  6. Pour the batter in two pans, previously greased with butter and floured with chocolate powder.
  7. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from the baking pan and serve immediately.
  9. Serve with vanilla ice cream, or sprinkle with powdered vanilla sugar and milk chocolate chips.
