I took out vanilla and chocolate chips from the recipe. Instead, I added 6 Tbsp cocoa powder (Hershey Special Dark is my fav). Changed bourbon to 6 Tbsp (Jim Beam Vanilla Bourbon), added one more Tbsp of flour, and added 1/4 cup of pecan pieces. The pie was perfectly balanced with a good chocolate flavor, vanilla bourbon flourish, and wasn’t too terribly sweet—just right. So delish, I ate a good piece, and made some fun decisions. My tween has judged me for said decisions and my dogs won’t look at me right now. But the pie turned out GREAT!

This pie is absolutely delicious! I substituted vanilla and water for the bourbon and it was still incredibly delicious!

Fantastic! I’m a big fan of pecan pie, and this was my first ever attempt at baking one. I even “splurged” on decent bourbon(Elijah Craig), since the number one rule, if you’re going to cook with alcohol, only use what you’d drink! It turned out great! The only thing I’d say is: DEFINITELY foil the crust edge to avoid burning. I added some late, but the very fringe of the crust still got burnt. Should’ve added it beforehand. But that’s “operator error”, and had no effect on final product.

The flavor is amazing! But, my pie was finished baking a good 10 minutes before the recipe directions of 40-45 min. at 350 degrees. Took it out at 30 min, and even so was a bit overdone. Watch carefully!
