Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 5 ounces shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 2 stalks celery (finely chopped)
  • 2 slices bacon (finely chopped)
  • 2 eggs (lightly beaten)
  • vegetable oil (for shallow-frying)
  • sweet chili sauce (to serve)

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Sauté onion for 3-4 mins, until tender. Transfer to a large bowl with remaining ingredients. Season then roll into meatballs.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan to 350°F. Shallow-fry meatballs for 6-8 mins, turning, until cooked through. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot or cold with sweet chili sauce for dipping.
