Description

Fresh garlic, lime, cumin and paprika season these tender and juicy vegetarian and vegan friendly chickpea burgers. Instructions for a homemade hummus sauce to use instead of ketchup and mustard are included. Serve on buns with fresh lettuce and tomato. You can freeze these chickpea burgers for a quick meal in the future.

Ingredients

125 grams chickpeas
water
1 garlic cloves (peeled)
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika
salt
ground black pepper
200 grams chickpeas
1/2 red onion (peeled)
1/2 garlic cloves (peeled)
fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
1 tablespoon flour
salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
hamburger buns
lettuce
tomatoes
cheese

Directions

1Soak the chickpeas in water overnight.
2The following day, cook in boiling salted water until soft.
3Chop the garlic and puree with the chickpeas, lime juice, olive oil, and 1 teaspoon water in a food processor until smooth.
4Season with cumin, paprika, and a pinch of salt and black pepper.
5Soak the chickpeas in water overnight.
6The following day, puree the chickpeas with the onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander seeds, flour, salt, and 1 teaspoon of the water in a food processor until smooth.
7Make the hamburger patties by hand.
8Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and fry the hamburgers until brown on both sides.
9Serve on hamburger buns and with the sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese.
