Description

Requiring just three ingredients, this fresh cherry jam has an enticing almond flavor. Pit the cherries and let them soak in jelly sugar overnight. After that, all that is left to do the next day is to heat until the jam reaches your desired consistency. Add the almond extract and you have a delicious spread that will pair beautifully with toast, scones, or biscuits. You have never had a better reason to go cherry picking!

Ingredients

1 kilogram pitted cherries
500 grams jelly sugar
1 tablespoon almond extract

Directions

1The night before, pit the cherries and place them in a pan with high sides. Mix in the the sugar, and cover until the next morning.
2The next day, heat the pan, stirring occasionally to desired consistency.
3Add the almond extract, and stir.
4Mince jam slightly, and pour into sterilized jars. Turn the jars upside down for a few minutes to create a natural vacuum.
