Cake in the Fryer


Made in a frying pan, this tasty pan-fried cake allows you to give the oven a break. Stiff egg whites give this fried cake a light and airy texture. Raisins add a burst of flavor with each bite and the addition of your favorite liqueur adds a rich and unique flavor element. This cake is cooked in a similar fashion to an omelet, flipping is required! Serve warm sprinkled with powdered sugar or your favorite sauce.


  • 4 eggs
  • 90 grams flour
  • 80 grams powdered sugar
  • salt
  • 100 milliliters cold water
  • 1 tablespoon raisins
  • 1 tablespoon liqueur
  • 30 grams butter


  1. Mix egg whites until stiff.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, egg yolks, sugar, salt, water, raisins, and liqueur. Stir all the ingredients until well blended and finally, gently stir in the egg whites.
  3. In a frying pan, melt half the butter, and then pour in the above mixture.
  4. Cook on low heat for about 5 minutes.
  5. Then, remove from frying pan (flipping like an omelet), add the rest of the butter, and cook on the other side for 5 more minutes.
  6. Remove, and serve hot.
