Made with cocoa powder and melted dark chocolate, these brownies are full of delicious chocolatey flavor. Carrying a hint of orange zest, these brownies are dense and moist. Melted chocolate and chopped walnuts are the crowning glory of these rich decadent brownie squares. These brownies are not for the faint of heart, but rather for the chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

  • 180 grams dark chocolate (chopped)
  • 150 grams butter
  • orange zest
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 6 egg whites
  • salt
  • 75 grams flour
  • 30 grams cocoa powder
  • 100 grams walnuts (chopped)

Directions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. 2Heat the chocolate, butter, and a pinch of orange zest using a double boiler. Set aside.
  3. 3In a bowl, beat the egg yolks and the sugar.
  4. 4In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites with a pinch of salt.
  5. 5In another bowl, mix the flour and cocoa powder, and fold into the egg whites. Pour this mixture into the egg yolks. Add the melted chocolate and nuts and mix.
  6. 6Pour the batter into a baking pan lined with parchment and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
  7. 7Remove from the oven and let it cool. Once cool, cut into 4 centimeter by 4 centimeter squares.
  8. 8Melt the chocolate. Spread onto the brownies and sprinkle with walnuts.
