Description

For a sweet treat that feels fancy but takes little effort at all, make these chocolate-filled puff pastries in a flash. Simply unroll thawed puff pastry dough and cut it into eight rectangles. Place two dark chocolate squares at the short end of each one, and roll them up to form parcels. Brush them with milk and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top before transferring them to a hot oven to bake.

Ingredients

500 grams bread (stale, diced)
1 liter milk (heated)
150 grams sugar
5 ounces schnapps
2 eggs
1 lemon
candied fruit
salt
butter

Directions

1Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius.
2Place the bread and soak in hot milk for 4 hours.
3Mash the bread with a fork. Add the sugar, schnapps, eggs, lemon zest, candied fruit, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.
4Pour the mixture into a greased and floured deep-sided round baking pan. Level the surface of the mixture and top with curls of butter.
5Bake for 1 hour. Once cooled, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
