This rating just on my personal preference. I am not a big fan of beef ribs or roast beef. Tasted like roast beef, but if you like that you will like this recipe.

Excellent short ribs recipe and easy to prepare. I added diced celery but followed everything else. Very tasty. I think the pancetta is the secret weapon in this dish. I would not try bacon because it may be a bit too overpowering.

I substituted lean stew meat and it was fabulous!

Fantastic! I didn’t have a shallot, but it was still wonderful.

A great recipe to memorize to make again. Its so simple but very delicious. Definitely use extra vegetables, I added garlic and celery as others suggested on the second time making it and it was a welcome addition to the recipe. Bacon or Pancetta works and both are tasty, and neither changes the flavor noticeably.

This turned out wonderful. I ended up pulling all the meat after I finished cooking and making a stew and using all the liquid from cooking. Rave reviews from friends.

Pretty good. Added some extra vegetables and used salt pork instead of bacon.

So good! I used bacon instead of pancetta

I used bacon instead of pancetta, added celery and smashed garlic. The short ribs I got were frozen and I didn’t have time to thaw but they still turned out amazing! I will definitely be making these again. You can use any fatty cut of beef and I think it would turn out delicious

The only thing I added was a stock of celery. I used red wine for this, and thought an extra cup of wine and broth would have left more liquid at the end. A delicious meal everyone enjoyed.

Delicious! You need patience but worth waiting for. I served it with scalloped potatoes and the whole family loved it.

I made this dish for my husband’s birthday and I have to say, it was amazing! It has such a rich flavor with the mix of veggies, beef broth and red wine. The meat was extremely tender. I served it on top of cheesy polenta with roasted green beans.

Delicious, lots of fat so maybe trim up the short rib before cooking I would definitely make again and love for leftovers

Stunning meal!!! Wouldn't change a thing! Hearty, tasty and a real crowd pleaser. Make sure you get your ribs from a good butcher and have a good Dutch Oven to cook it with. Served with mash potato or polenta is great :)
