This rich no butter chocolate cake has a surprise running through the middle, more chocolate! Layers of moist chocolate cake are separated by a layer of melted chocolate and walnuts. Made with exclusively brown sugar, this cake has a rich flavor that ensures it will soon disappear.

  • 480 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 240 milliliters oil
  • 240 grams cocoa
  • 240 milliliters boiling water
  • 120 grams chocolate chips
  • 120 grams ground walnuts (coarsely)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Beat the eggs with the sugar.
  3. Add the flour and the baking powder.
  4. Then, add the oil and cocoa powder.
  5. When the oven is hot, add the boiling water and beat well.
  6. Pour half the dough in a baking tray greased with butter and sprinkled with flour. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and walnuts.
  7. Add the remaining dough, and bake for about 45 minutes.
  8. Test the baking process with a toothpick.

This was my first time baking a cake using boiling water, but the recipe was very easy to follow and understand. This cake is bursting with flavor. It has a really rich chocolate taste from the cocoa that makes it really incredible. The crunch of the walnuts give it that extra dimension of texture. I'll be making this for dessert again.
