Description

Adapted from a traditional Portuguese recipe, this Beira rotten cake is all but rotten in the usual sense of the word. Flavored with orange zest and cinnamon, this cake is made with purely brown sugar for a rich caramel flavor.

  • 250 grams brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lard (at room temperature)
  • 1 orange zest
  • 150 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 2 deciliters milk
