Ingredients

  • 100 grams spinach
  • 250 grams ground beef
  • bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • heavy cream (splash)
  • ground black pepper
  • 8 squid (small, bodies separated from tentacles)
  • 1 leek (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 garlic clove (diced)
  • 1 bottle tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces water
  • 1 vegetable bouillon cube
  • salt

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Boil the spinach in salted boiling water.
  3. Drain and mix in a bowl with the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, cream, and pepper.
  4. Fill the squid bodies with this mixture.
  5. Place on a baking tray and bake for 45 minutes.
  6. For the sauce, saute together the leek, onion, and garlic.
  7. Once softened, add the tomato sauce.
  8. Dissolve 1/2 of the vegetable bouillon cube in a glass of water and add this to the vegetables once they are all warmed through. Salt to taste.
  9. Simmer 5 minutes then blend.
  10. Serve the squid with the sauce drizzled on top.

I had never had squid until I tried this recipe. I have to say it is really tasty. It’s easy to prepare and this recipe is just delicious. Make sure to get all the tentacles out when preparing the squid. Also, if you cannot find vegetable bouillon cube, which you think would be easy to find, just use a beef flavored one. It looks amazing on a plate for an h'orderve at a party.
