- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 pound new potatoes (small potatoes, or fingerling, halved or quartered)

The fifth star is reserved for my additions. Double the flour, double the tomato paste, tbls of steak seasoning. But as a newby to Yummly I love the base in which this created. Also get a good bottle of wine so you can drink the rest of the bottle lol.

Turned out really well. I doubled the thyme, bay leaves, and pepper. I think it may not have been as flavorful otherwise.

I added paprika and oregano to the mix. I also ended up browning the meat for about 20 mins instead of 3-4 mins per side as the recipe calls for, but I also used double the meat. I opted not to use the bacon. Overall, it was delicious and I will definitely make this in the future.

Overall pretty good but I thought there’d be more depth of flavor in the broth since bacon was added. It was a good recipe though 🙂

Very good! It was not as thick as I’d hoped it would be but still very good and not watery. Next time I might try 1/2 tsp of thyme instead, but overall still very satisfying and tasty. Meat was very tender.

This stew is so good that my children call it "the special stew". My son in law works late every day but if he and my daughter know that I am making stew, he comes home early and they are at my house as fast as they can! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Have made this recipe a few times and it is amazing every time. My kids love it, get a loaf of garlic bread to dip into the broth. My husband doesn’t like soups or broths much, and he will drink this on it’s own. Wonderful recipe thanks so much for sharing!!
