Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 dash garlic powder
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 tablespoons crisco (melted)
  • 1 egg (slightly beaten)
  • 2 cups fresh mushrooms (sliced)

Directions

  1. Combine flour, cheese, salt, and garlic powder.
  2. Stir in water, Crisco, and egg; beat until smooth.
  3. Pat mushrooms dry.
  4. Dip into batter.
  5. Fry few at a time in deep oil heated to 365 degrees until golden (about 3 minutes).
  6. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Lightly salt.
  8. Serve.
  9. Sour cream is a good dip for these.
