Description

Beef tongue may be an acquired taste. So if you enjoy the flavors, then this easy four-ingredient recipe is one to try. It makes four servings and has only five calories per serving. All you need is 1 beef tongue, ½ onion, 2 peppercorns, and 2 bay leaves. You put all the ingredients in a large pot and fill it half way with water. Then you let it cook over low heat for 3 ½ hours. Once fully prepared, serve it on corn or flour tortillas.

Ingredients

  • 1 beef tongue
  • 1/2 onions
  • 2 peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves

Directions

  1. 1Place the beef tongue in a large port along with the onion, peppercorns, and bay leaves. Fill half of the pot with water and let the tongue cook over low heat for 3 1/2 hours, turning every 30 minutes.
  2. 2After the 3 1/2 hours, turn off the stove and let the tongue sit for 1 hour.
  3. 3Remove the tongue from the pot, peel off the outer layer of meat, and cut the meat into thin strips.
  4. 4Serve the meat on corn or flour tortillas. You may also add onion, coriander, and lemon to give the meat a bit more flavor.
