I’m a chef and I specialize in Southern cuisine. We never put onions in our macaroni. It’s forbidden. I dummy know where she got this recipe from, but it wasn’t from the South. And macaroni and cheese is Midwestern not Southern. We adopted this dish.

Amazing. I’ve made this twice and it’s perfect. I used smoked paprika and crushed red pepper instead of mustard. I also used 1% milk and it was just as good. It’s a perfect recipe.

It has good flavor, but I would definitely cut down the salt in the sauce. It is also not as creamy as I would have liked: I’m not sure if I didn’t thicken the sauce enough or if it needed the addition of another type of cheese (ie, fontina) that is more meltable and less greasy than cheddar.

Turned out great! Takes longer than a box mix would but definitely worth the wait!! I didn’t use as much cheese as it calls for. I was a bit skeptical while making it but it ended up tasting awesome

It was good, but I made the mistake of not cooking down the milk mixture for 10 minutes. I guess I missed that step.

Halved the recipe and still made the best mac and cheese I've ever had. I was skeptical during a few crucial cooking steps, but it all came out perfectly.

It’s easy to make and the kids loved it, but it wasn’t a hit with the adults who are used to Patti’s Mac and Cheese!
