  • 2 apples (medium - large, firmer varieties work better)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (divided, optional, omit if you want a vegan recipe!)
  • 4 tablespoons rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (brown or turbinado works great)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts (like slivered almonds)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey)

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
    2. Core the apples by cutting the core out from the top but do not cut all the way (leave about ½-3/4 at the base of the apple)
