Description

This is an old family recipe that goes back to at least the 1950's. I have fold memories of my grandmother serving this dish when she had the family over for dinner

  • 4 cups beef (cooked, or veal)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup onion (thinly sliced, coarsely chopped)
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds (whole)
  • 1 dash nutmeg
  • 2 cups sour cream

    Directions

    1. Trim the fat from the meat and cut into 1 inch long by 1/4 wide strips
    2. Heat oil and butter in a skillet, add the mushrooms and onions and saute on low until soft
    3. Add meat and continue cooking for 10 minutes
