Put the twist on a classic dip with this Avocado and Radish Dip. Taking the base ingredients of your favorite guacamole, this recipe adds chopped radishes and mustard seed to the mix for a uniquely textured and absolutely delicious avocado dip. Serve with your favorite dipping chip or cracker or serve with warm naan or pita chips. This Avocado and Radish dip pairs well with Southwest-style dinners or as an addition to a make your own burrito bar.

Ingredients

  • 4 radishes
  • 2 avocados (ripe)
  • 1/2 lime juice
  • 1/2 garlic clove (crushed)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • salt (as needed)
  • peppercorns (as needed)
  • mustard seeds (as needed)
  • 1 pinch sweet paprika
  • mizuna
  • beet
  • 3 slices bread (flat, or Naan bread)

Directions

  1. Chop the radishes coarsely in the chopper, and set aside.
  2. Peel the avocados, remove pit, and smash thoroughly.
  3. Add the chopped radishes, and mix.
  4. Pour the lime juice on top of the avocado, so it doesn't oxidize.
  5. Crush the garlic until pasty, add to avocado.
  6. Add the olive oil, salt, mustard, and pepper, to taste.
  7. Stir everything very well, add the paprika and microvegetables.
  8. Serve with Naan bread.

This dip makes a good centerpiece for many southwestern meals. We scoop it up with tortillas, chips, various crackers and even spread it on corn bread! We sometimes use it as a topping or side for meats.
