Description

Entirely dairy free, this Austrian apple sorbet is made with just 5 simple ingredients. Apples, lemon juice, and apple cider are blended together to which is added a simple sugar syrup. This recipe has instructions for sorbet preparation in both an ice cream maker and for those who do not have an ice cream maker. Cool, refreshing, and full of apple flavor, this Austrian sorbet is a great afternoon treat on those autumn afternoons that are still surprisingly warm.

Ingredients

  • 110 grams sugar
  • 180 milliliters water
  • 2 green apples (or Gala, peeled, cored, and cubed)
  • fresh lemon juice (squeeze of)
  • 250 milliliters apple cider

Directions

  1. 1In a heavy bottomed pot heat up the sugar and water together until boiling. Keep at boiling a few minutes then remove from heat and let cool completely.
  2. 2Blend together the apples, lemon juice, and apple cider.
  3. 3Add in the cooled simple syrup and blend everything well.
  4. 4Pour the mixture into an ice cream machine and follow the manufacturer’s directions then freeze.
  5. 5If you do not have a machine, pour the mixture into a shallow metal container, freeze, and stir every 30 minutes until a sorbet forms.
